OPPORTUNITY – MEDICAL SERVICES CHIEF
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue is seeking an exceptional leader with experience in managing a mid-size or larger ambulance service area of comparable complexity. Reporting to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division Chief, the Medical Services Chief manages the administrative functions, including the oversight of direct reports’ work, to support a complex system of EMS first response and ambulance service delivery in multiple jurisdictions, including 9-1-1 emergency response and transport, inter-facility transport, and special event standby. The Medical Services Chief works in partnership with other internal departments to manage contracts, billing, staffing, equipment, and quality improvement. The Chief manages EMS Quality Improvement (QI) process action teams and is a member of the EMS QI committee, which is responsible to review current research, interpreting performance data and operationalizing strategic changes as directed by the EMS Division Chief.
In this new line of business for TVF&R, the Medical Services Chief provides medical expertise to inform business processes related to transport and EMS contract services, including implementing new contracts, evaluating current contract compliance, invoicing, and FireMed subscriptions. The Chief interprets and monitors applicable emergency medical services laws and regulations, ensuring transport EMS operations are aligned with local, state and federal laws, other regulatory agency standards, District guidelines and business practices. Additionally, the Medical Services Chief advises the EMS Division Chief regarding policies and practices relating to transport EMS operations, as well as, budget needs for the EMS Division and assists with on-going fiscal oversight and accountability. The Medical Services Chief also partners with the Training Division on the development and delivery of EMS training.
