The Department is accepting applications to fill several vacancies due to retirements.
The Department provides emergency services to the citizens of the City of Beloit. The Department also assists surrounding communities by providing mutual aid upon request through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. The Beloit Fire Department consists of 60 sworn personnel who operate out of three stations. Other than the fire suppression and emergency medical services that the Department provides on a day to day basis, we also provide services for Swift Water Recues, Tactical Emergency Medical Services, Technical Rescue, support of the Rock County Level B Hazardous Materials Team and Fire Investigations.
The Firefighter is responsible for responding to fire alarms, medical emergency and other calls to protect life and property, Responsibilities include participating in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance actives. We are progressive department that provides a myriad of serves that allows an individual to cross train and excel in fields of interest in the fire and rescue service. Successful candidates will be required to serve eight years as a paramedic and must not smoke tobacco for the entirety of their career as a condition of employment.
Successful candidate shall possess a valid national Registry or Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician basic license and be certified as a Firefighter 1 with the State of Wisconsin, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualification (Pro Board), or equivalent certification/training from another state. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have attained a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of application. Prefer candidates that have a valid IAFC/IAFF Candidate Physical Ability Test Certificate.

Salary: $1691.64 bi-weekly

This is a general knowledge multiple choice exam with a 70% pass/fail cut off. Please bring copies of all valid certifications to the testing center. (electronic copies will not be accepted).
