Beginning salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; the starting salary is normally within 20% of the entry of the range based upon experience.
Bachelors degree in Fire Science Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Public Administration Management or a closely related field and five years experience as an Assistant Chief or higher level chief administrative officer in a fire rescue department that provides a full range of emergency and non-emergency services, such as but not limited to: advanced life support, emergency and non-emergency medical transport, fire suppression, fire prevention and fire inspection; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and criminal history background check are required prior to employment.
An incumbent of this job classification will be required to file a financial disclosure statement (form 1) with the Supervisor of Elections in their county of residence in compliance with Florida Statutes, Chapter 112, Part III. Such filing is required within 30 days of placement in a covered position, annually thereafter by no later than July 1 of each year in which they serve in the covered position, and within 60 days of leaving the covered position.

*Current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance or Special Certificate of Compliance in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.054. Out-of-State Training within twelve (12) months of hiring.
*Current State of Florida Paramedic Certificate or ability to become licensed in Florida within 12 months of hiring.
*A valid State of Florida Driver’s License (Class “E”) with current EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course) certificate or to be completed with six (6) months of hiring.
*Alachua County residency required while employed in this position.
