In Memoriam

Rose Woodbridge

Rose Woodbridge, a volunteer firefighter with the Hanover Township, Ohio, Fire Department, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on July 28, 2006.

Woodbridge was driving to the fire station in her personal vehicle, intending to pick up the department's ambulance and respond to a two-car collision. She apparently lost control of her car on wet pavement and struck a utility pole.

Co-workers extricated her from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woodbridge, who was 56, is the first Hanover Township firefighter to die in the line of duty. She had been a firefighter and EMT for the past eight years.

Her husband, Ray, is also with the department, and both of them also volunteered for the Riley Township Fire Department. Besides her husband, she leaves three grown children and six grandchildren.
